VIN 1--how to stop it from progressing?

Hello, I am 41 years old. I had an abnormal pap 20 years ago and rec'd cryosurgery for it. Everything has been normal for years. Last month my GP removed a mole from my bikini line. It turned out to be "Bowenoid Papulosis" which is related to HPV. My gyno did a colposcopy and then 5 biopsies. It turned out that all 5 biopsies came back positive for VIN 1 (Vulvar Interthelial Neoplasia). The doctor said to "wait and see" and that this might resolve on its own.

But what if it doesn't? What are the chances it will go away? How can I prevent this from becoming worse? Can't seem to find any information about this particular problem.

Hi,
I know this is an older post.  But I was treated back in Oct. 2009 for VIN 3 and CIN 3, if you have any questions you would still liked answered, you can send me a privated message if you'd like.

Thanks--this is not cervical dysplasia however, but vulvar dysplasia caused by HPV. My paps are all normal.

Your probably at a very mild stage, hence why the Drs suggested you 'wait and see' when women are at the mild stage, there bodys have a very high chance of fighting back at the HPV without treatment. And the usual protocol is to repeat pap to see if the HPV has gone away. If it hasn't, depending on the severity, the may want to do some treatment.
