Wart biopsy and type testing. Please help!

Alright, so my boyfriend has genital warts, which I know is usually type 6 or 11. I'm vaccinated with Gardasil. We want to make sure that the strain that is causing his warts is covered by the vaccine. I've seen many people on this site, and others, who have had biopsies of warts performed, and the specific type of HPV was identified. However, we asked his dermatologist about this, and the dermatologist said that it can't be done. I'm a biomedical researcher. I know it can be done. How is it that these other people have had that testing ordered though? Can anyone help us?

Thank you for your reply.  I'm just trying to figure out HOW it can be done. My dermatologist seems to think that it's impossible to determine the HPV type from a biopsy. Like I said, I have Gardasil, and my boyfriend has an active wart. We want to get that biopsied to ensure that it's a strain that's covered by the vaccine. Do you know anyone on here who has specifically had this done so I could perhaps ask them what their doctor ordered?

It can be done. Some doctors don't think its important and so they don't order it with the biopsy.  One doctor told me that I may have 1 strain on one thigh and another strain on another, so what does it matter? I stopped going to him....
