What's the deal with genital HPV?

Some sites say that you're basically screwed for life. You've got HPV forever and nasty warts can pop up whenever you get the sniffles. Other sites say it "clears" after an year or two but you still have it for life. And it may rear it's uly head 10 minutes from now or 10 years from now. And finally some sites (including this one) says no big deal, anyone getting laid will get it. In the majority of people it vanishes after about an year. WHICH IS IT???

Practicing safe sex will help in preventing this.

Great. From the stats I see just about everyone has HPV and oral herpes. It's impossible to avoid if you have a sex life. Kinda makes the case for remaining a virgin until marriage and staying monogamous.

Be careful which websites you trust. I recommend government sites such as CDC for information that is up to date and without an agenda.

Is a link that confirms HPV is temporary for most people.

It does seem to be true that some people do not clear the virus as easily.

Finally, it is true that almost all people with three or more partners will acquire at least one strain of HPV. Only a minority of these people have genital warts.
