oral cancer ( oh no not again )

I have during any month now followed the  forum regarding HPV16 and tonsilcancer I feel now that I have to ask my question ..

This is my story, I live in Sweden and is 45 years. happily married with two children, 3 years ago, something happened that should not happen, I met a classmate from school and we had sex once and some oral sex. She is the same age, divorced with three children and have only met a man before me who was also in our age, so I assume the risk that any of us would carry HPV is quite small?.

Every now and then torment me the idea, perhaps as much because I regret the incident that I'm worried about HPV, to my nature, I am very motionless for diseases.

Since this incident, I have two pieces HIV rapid test and an HIV test at the hospital, all negative and I have not had any other symptoms of venereal diseases.

What bothers me now is all that is on the Internet that HPV causes cancer, primarily in the tonsils, although it did not have other risk factors, this Substances containing printed also on the lots on the open forum, which makes me even more nervous.

I have read some answers that you provide in similar questions and read answers about how few people are affected in the U.S. and that it probably also depends on other factors, it calms me down, unfortunately not when I read what torsten47 writes very convincingly about HPV alone causes cancer.

I think you answer me that there is little risk that she had HPV and that the risk is much less that I had HPV in the mouth, so my main concerns regarding the cause of the cancer, I mean I'm healthy, not overweight, exercising, eating omega- 3, never smoke, never did, do not drink a drop of spirits, he is good oral hygiene, but only 4 fillings in my entire life, and no other diseases.

It is well so I think I should be punished for my infidelity in any way then perhaps with cancer, had this girl was my real girlfriend for a time in an honest way and I then went back to my wife, then I think not I'd spent HPV even one thought.

Can you say that my risk of cancer due to HPV is almost zero?

I want to tell you that 2 years of amazing opportunities when I got my wife to do an HPV test, felt like it was important but also because it was the closest I could come in to "test myself" thinking that if my wife had HPV when we had probably never had it or had it gone over.

In Sweden, there is an established scientists and dentists who go out in the media by saying that people should avoid oral sex because of the risk of cancer.

Sincerely,

a former writer here on the forum wrote about www.oralcancerfoundation.com, I
Can not find the post anymore.

What do you think about this page? is to be trusted 100%? which writes rules
something that I interpret as that HPV but other factors can develop into
cancer.

Why are there 2 / 3 men, it seems a bit strange or not there is
other factors that nonetheless help to cause cancer together
with HPV???

a test is of course meaningless if it is negative. ok it can calm a bit but then start to think about anyway
that it could be off, which it certainly can be, is the positive one becomes even more worried, and no one
can do about it other than what you could do before the test, that is, pay attention to
changes in the mouth, what is your history.

No one else who can comment on my history and risk?

In US, there is a ORAL HPV test from ORALDNA labs (www.oraldna.com) looking high risk strain 16,18, 6,11 using saliva, but there is no data available showing how accurate it is. Many dentists in US now offering this test. You may contact the company directly if the test available in Sweden.

Many doctors on this site think it is not worth the money to take the test: 1) no data showing how accurate the test is 2) oral hpv cancer risk is very low 3) getting hpv from oral sex is low risk.

We're on the same boat. So I think what we need to do is:

1. Have full dental exam looking for oral cancer lesions at your dentist office annually.

2. My dentist said the exam can find early signs of oral cancer and be treated. But I think it may be missed. Having said that any missed lesions usually don't turn into cancer for many years, so annual exams may address that.

3. Oral HPV cancer usually show up with white or red lesions on the sides of the tongue, and at the base of the tongue.

4. Contact your dentist or doctor immediately if you have any mouth or throat lesions that don't heal more than two weeks.

5. Have physical checkup annually.

I think those are the only things we can do to lower the risks.

Hope that helps.
