Yes definitely a lifestyle change for a healthy you is always better. I think that the oral testing for HPV is fairly new. Even if your hpv is dormant it should be able to detect it.

Dr. H and the std experts on this forum are relaxed when it comes to these things. Ive seen people on this forum talk about warts in their mouth. Also, the alarming increase rate of oral and throat cancer related to HPV is something to take under consideration. I understand that Dr. H says he has not seen a single case, that does not mean it does not happen.

I take the Doctors advice with a grain of salt. However , doing all those things you mentioned are a very good way of keeping healthy to clear the virus.

Hmm...I wonder what the STD experts would think of that test? I heard of a few tests that dentists use to detect oral HPV. But from what I heard, the best is a visual check by the dentist or hygienist every six months. My own doctor recommends once per year. Dr. Handsfield recommends once every five years. My own hygienist says she looks for star-shaped lesions.

Also note that the mouth gets all sorts of bacteria obviously from all the different food going in. Occasionally weird sores can develop. I had two that lasted half a day. I was panicked - given the oral HPV hysteria. And I have allergic reactions to the "white strips" toothpaste. My tongue gets swollen - another oral HPV scare.

Like the doctors say on the forum, you are more likely to die from a different cancer than from oral HPV. Buckle your seat belt. Eat more vegetables and fruits. Don't be obese. Quit smoking. Don't binge drink and you will be okay.

Many people have oral sex every year. A tiny percentage gets cancer from it. So the odds are in most people's favor as long as they educate themselves about the disease. I'm four years past my last cunnilingus episode. So if I contacted HPV-16 it is dormant now. I intend to keep on top of my health to keep it dormant. I have prescription meds to fight a thyroid problem which is technically an immuno deficiency disease. So I follow the advice, take the meds and get regular tests.

Hope that lifestyle is good advice for others.
