High B.P and gym .

I have High B.P , I go to the gym regularly  do weights,  cardio  etc . I have been told by a doctor to stop going to the gym , Is it necessary for me to avoid gym due to high B.P

That is odd. I was in the er and my blood pressure was 170/90. At home i told the doctor there that it was 195/116 and he told me to "exercise" more!! He said it's a controversy about the bl pr going up after exercising. They are not positive about that. He did say tho that even if i had high bl pr and i did some kind of exercise that it would only go up a little bit for a short while and then later go lower.
