What are some things you can do to lower blood pressure?

Lowering blood pressure is so important to do if you have been diagnosed with hypertension or borderline high blood pressure and controlling it if you are within normal is also important.  

There are a lot of things the average person can do.  One should first check with their own doctor to get guidance and approval for any new activities or regimes someone cares to add to their daily life.

Losing weight can be very beneficial.  As little as 5 to 10 pounds can make a difference for someone.  
Exercising regularly. The American Heart Association recommends a minimum of one half hour of exercise five times a week. Brisk walking is fine and a good place to start if someone does not exercise regularly.
A heart healthy diet is important.  The DASH diet is helpful to follow.  Cutting sodium, fatty foods, processed foods is beneficial.

It is also very true that the African American community has a high incidence of hypertension.  Forty percent of the African American community has high blood pressure and it happens earlier in this specific demographic group as well.  https://www.webmd.com/hypertension-high-blood-pressure/guide/hypertension-in-african-americans  It's important to know your risks.
