If you are in that medication for 6 months and you still have those BP level it means that the medication is not working for you. Go back to doctor that will change it until you get good values. Normally it can take 3 or 4 iterations until the right medication is found.

Yes, long term blood pressure will damage your heart and your arteries, placing you at risk of heart attack and strokes.

In most of the cases, BP medication is for life.

Yes, all medicaments have side effects, but if properly monitored, you can take them for long time without problems.

You need to change your medicaments/doses until you get the combination that works for you.

Yes Exercise will reduce your average BP. You can walk ... if you have no other health issues, you can try to increase your walks little by little until you achieve 6km in 1 hour and you do it 5 days per week.

Easy tips, perhaps not that easy.... Reduce weight... get a BMI of 25 or below. Stop salt intake. Avoid stress. Sleep at least 7 hours/day. Follow medication and dr. controls until your BP is in good levels.

Follow these breathing techniques to control BP and weight naturally. Drink warm water and avoid cold drinks. Let me know your progress in about 12 weeks, or when you have noticed the benefit. This works gradually, so allow months to notice benefits.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Kapalbhati pranayam -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.
Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 21  times.

1) Side effects of long use of medicines? I have heard of lever damage? How long will medications continue? Does changing medications every few months help?

Long term side effects are numerous but I would need to know more about exactly which meds you are on to understand better what side effects may occur. Liver damage is common with many pharmaceuticals but again each one has different effects. Your doctor will look at many things to determine which BP meds fit you best and should track your progression with any medication you are prescribed.

2) Hate to exercise. Can walk though - is it helpful? How much to walk daily?

Exercise and diet are key but you can do simple and very effective exercises. Breathing (read hava's reply above) also Yoga and various isometric exercise can help. There are several devices on the market that can help you do simple breathing and squeezing exercises to reduce blood pressure (these are FDA approved). You can also do the iLowerBP program. Walking is a great way to exercise as well.

3) Easy to implement tips to reduce BP?

Paced deep breathing exercises, yoga style breathing or nasal breathing. You can also buy Resperate - http://www.resperate.com
Isometric handgrip exercises - http://www.zona.com
DASH Diet - http://www.dashdiet.org
iLowerBP program - http://www.ilowerbp.com

4) Will BP reduce lifespan or hinder me?

Long term effects of uncontrolled High Blood Pressure will cause other health ailments and may result in reduced lifespan but you have many control options that you and your doctor can implement and get your BP under control.
