I am glad to hear it all went well I never got a chance to talk to you before you were out for surgery due to my own issues.  I am glad to hear you are back at work as well.

I had my surgery July 9th.  Everything went well.  I am still a little sore.  I came back to work yesterday.  I have a office job so no heavy work.  I needed to come back to keep my mind busy.

I just found this site because I too am scheduled to have an abdominal hysterectomy on July 9th.  I am really feeling a great deal of anxiety as well.  Let's just take comfort in that we are not alone and my friends who have been through this tell me that it is worth it.

Thanks,  I am so glad I found this site. I have asked my gyn several questions, but it always help to ask someone who has been through it. I have read so many stories on this site that really helped me with alot of questions I have.

I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time.  I have had a lot of abdominal surgeries with my last one just 2  1/2 weeks ago for a partial hysterectomy due to large ovarian cyst.  There's no denying that the first week or two can be miserable after the surgery but then you will be amazed to realize that once the surgery pain is gone that your other problems are gone forever.  It really is worth it to get your quality of life back.  Just talk to your gyn about getting a low dose HRT started right after your surgery so you won't have the menopause symptoms to deal with right away.  I know many people who are so happy they went ahead with it.  You will get so much energy back once you aren't losing all that blood and dealing with the pain.  Life will get good again.

Please keep us posted.  All the best,
Trudie

I never knew I had fibords., until about 2 yrs ago. I was always told oh you been on the depo shot 2long so that's all the problems.  I was told this by my regular dr.  She gave me iron pills beacuse I was losing so much blood.  Then finally  a yr later she agreed something was wrong and she did ultra sounds and found  I had them but they were small so don't worry it's common you will be ok.  But the since last yr the pain and the heavy bledding is unbearable.  I went to a gyn and he stated they have grown and I need to do something about them.  He said he could shave them but they may come back because as far as he could see they are all over my uterus(inside and outside).  He also stated I could never carry a child.  I really don't mind that I have a 12yr old son.  Bu the thought about having this surgery done is scary even though I know it will help me in the long run.
