Do I need a hysterectomy

I had a uterine ablation on 11/24 for heavy periods and mid month sporadic bleeding.  Since then, I have had two menstrual periods, not super heavy but not light either.  Also, I never used to have menstrual cramps and now the first two days, they are borderline unbearable.  And, now I am really depressed because I started mid-month spotting again.  I don't have great health insurance and I feel horrible that this has accomplished nothing and yet I am in the hole with my out of pocket medical.  I wrote my doctor a letter explaining my dilemna and haven't heard back.  Now, I just want them to take my uterus out and be done with it.  Have any of you had this experience.  Am I wrong wanting a hysterectomy?

I would never recommend a hysterectomy to anyone unless it is life threatening. You cant predict your future no matter how much you think you can and this is a permenant solution for a possibly temporary problem. I was misinformed to the treatments that were available to me and had a partial hyst done and I regret it every single day of my life. I am broken.

A hysterectomy is a very serious , painful operation with the possibilty of very troublesome life time side effects..Only as a last resort should anyone get a hysterectomy.

Your age matters too, the younger you are the less likely you will find a dr to perform the procedure.

I think you do need to see your gyn and ask about possibilites to control menstural pain. there is a wide variety of meds..stay away from narcotics if you can.

I am not saying your wrong to want the surgery just be  becareful..I had lots of troubles like you heavy periods, cramps that sent me to bed..tilted uterus..I had my three babies..waited until I was in my forties and got my uterus removed..a year lated I developed polycystic ovaries,,had to get a bso,,would rather had all removed at once.

I would advise you to read lots of posts on this forum of ladies who have had the surgery.

good luck

Cherie
