Fibroid, still bleeding, tired, how long will this last, any hope

Hi everyone! I'm new here and really wasn't sure where to post this.  Back in Augusif last Year I was told I had one fibroid. I don't know How big or how small it is. Right now I'm dealing with some anxiety issues which I'm need to all that as well. They put me Mononessa birth control pills to regulate my periods. Before then my periods weren't heavy just very very painful. Especially two months prior to taking birth control. It felt like I was in full labor. I would cry at the thought of my up coming periods. I found all this out because I ended up having to get a blood transfusion and they dud test time see where the blood loss was coming from. I'm still unclear cause I was never having heavy longer periods, just painful and more clots. However, at the time I was and stills is dealing with Gastritis and a hiatel hernia. Since being in these birth control pills my periods are longer and very painful. I'm bleeding at least 2-3 weeks with spotting in between. The month of December I bleed almost 2wks with my cycle coming back on full blast heavy clots.and all on the 23rd of December and still going strong today. I notified my gyno last week and she just said to take 2 birth control pills everyday until it stops, but of course it hasn't and they can't see me until another week.  I took the remainder of the pills and stop. I'm wondering if they even working for me. My cycles got heavier and longer while taking them. Plus I'm also wondering if the pills could be behind my all if a sudden anxiety now, cause I felt this way before during one of my cycles, but it only lasted and hour. I woke up crying and just felt weird not myself.  Now it's happening again but hasn't went away. I just don't know and I'm trying to narrow things down time what could be causing this. I'm sick and tired of all this bleeding and the pain. Right now I feel like they can just take the whole thing out, but I'm really unsure about that. I'm feeling very down today and just emotional. I read about other alternative to major surgery. I'm wondering if any of you all tried anything else other procedures before the hysterectomy. If so, what where they?  How was it?  I'm just trying to figure out what to do and could use some advice from others who may have gone thru this.

I feel for you. Thought I was going through menopause because I had no period for 11months and then suddenly got my period. It was normal for 3 days and then on the evening of 3rd day I started haemorrhaging and loosing clots  the size of my fist. Double padding (overnight incontinence pads which absorb up to 6 cups) I had to change every hour. On day 6 I had blood tests ordered before the period started to test for menopause. GP gave me 2 different meds to stop bleeding so I can have an ultrasound but the meds have only slowed the bleeding. I'm now on day 25 and still bleeding...I've been told I can't have the ultrasound until the bleeding stops but I'm wondering if their is another way to diagnose fibroids ( my mother grandmother aunt and cousin had them) that doesn't rely on the bleeding to stop? Also will it stop ? Ever?

Nat2017 - Prescription med tranexamic acid (Lysteda) is supposed to be very effective at reducing bleeding. Progesterone would be another option.

I agree with Chima7. Hysterectomy almost always causes more problems than it corrects and those problems get progressively worse and oftentimes cannot be fixed. Hysterectomies are VERY profitable for gynecologists' and hospitals' with almost 90% being unnecessary. Unfortunately, you may need to get quite a few opinions before being told you don't need one since most gynecologists do them unnecessarily. Please do your homework and don't rely solely on doctors' recommendations.

I just think that you need to stay prayed up and follow up with your doctors they know what to do to correct the problem. God is the healer and he will walk you through it all. I will pray for you and i hope that you do the same for me. He is with us both. He knows our body and what it need to be healed.

Rosa R. Im going through heavy bleeding from a rupture or burst fibroid or cyst and i am still bleeding and just this morning clogs still. What is going on. I have to have a ct- scan test done and see my gyn oncology and the surgery doctors. I were told that i have to have a hysterectomy okay if so. But i feel as though it will be something else. I dont know for sure. I am just ready for it all to be over. While god has given me the full opportunity to go with what the doctors will do to correct my deepest problem of this issue ASAP. I am blessed for my answer from above. God knows my body and what is going on,on the inside. So i will stay in faith with this until it is over with. God is working alon side me through it all. God will work it out to the end. So stay positive because i am and this health condition will not last for ever. God is right by our side in healing this problem for us both.

Is it normal that the menstrual cycle lasts for more than 10 when I have fibroids. How long will it last. Luckily I don't have pain.

Not all women have issues after a full hysterectomy.

I sure didn't..Getting it was the best day of my life....

I had a big fibroid, about the size of a softball. When we first saw it in the ultrasound, my gynecologist said we will keep an eye on it. Over a three yr time, it got to be the size it was and it caused very heavy bleeding that wouldn't stop. I ended up having a laprotomy to remove the fibroid. I told her that under no circumstances was she allowed to take my uterus out unless my life was in danger. So she got the fibroid out and after about 8 weeks I went back to work. About a year after that I got mirena iud because I was tired of having a period. It's been working ok but I'm on my period now and while it's just spotting, the cramping is a little off the hook.

I strongly advise against hysterectomy unless it's an absolute last resort and all other options have been attempted to correct the situation. You don't realize how many of your body's functions and form depend on having the uterus. If you get it removed then you can expect, among other things, loss of hair, skin elasticity, constant tiredness, organ movement which may necessitate additional surgeries to correct, hot flashes, mood swings, blood pressure and blood sugar issues, pelvic ligament problems, and the list goes on. You should never just get a hyst without thoroughly researching every possible option before it and then thoroughly researching the after effects of a hyst if that's what you decide to do. Far too many women who were in a vulnerable position have been given unnecessary hysts due to lack of knowledge about the consequences afterwards. Don't let yourself be one of those people. There are ways of dealing with fibroids that don't involve taking your uterus and I strongly advise you to discuss those options with your gynecologist before making any decision.

Thanks for your feedback! I've had an ultrasound done a few months ago, that's how they discovered the Fibroid. I had a Pap Smear done also which came back normal. My blood count showed that I was Iron deficient, so they gave me iron pills to take plus I had to get two units of blood. They say it's only one Fibroid. I do not know how big it is, but it's inside my uterus. I recently had them check my Thyroid and CBC at the E.R. 2weeks ago, but they said they didn't find anything and all levels look fine, but I still feel weird, tired, and not myself. It's to the point that I don't want to do anything now. The bleeding appears to be going away now, because it's not as heavy anymore. I have an appointment to see my gynecologist next week.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
First of all it can be due to metrorrhagia which causes uterine bleeding at irregular intervals, particularly between the expected menstrual periods. Metrorrhagia can occur due to dysfunction uterine bleeding, hormonal imbalance, polyps, fibroids, endometriosis, infections of the cervix, vagina or endometrium, pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian insufficiency, ovarian cysts or benign lesions of the female reproductive system. Given your history, fibroids and endometriosis is an important possibility.

In my opinion you need to get your pelvic examination done from your gynecologist along with investigations like complete blood count, thyroid function tests, PAP smear, hormonal levels, cervical swab and ultrasound uterus. Once is identified, treatment can be planned.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
