Hysterectomy for recurrent mucinous cysts

Good morning.

In 2005 I had a borderline mucinous tumor (LMP) removed and after daignosis, had the ovary, tube and appendix removed and staging done - Stage 1 luckily as it was contained in the ovary.  Due to my age (32 at the time) and the fact that I had no children it was decdied that no hysterectomy would be performed but regular check ups ith ultrasound and blood tests.

In 2009 I had a laparscopy to remove another cyst on the remaining ovary and the pathology came back as benign Mucinous cystadenoma.

I am now scheduled to go in on Monday for another laparoscpy to remove another cyst which the gyn assumes is another mucinous cyst.

I have 2 questions :

1.  Should the entire cyst be sent for pathology testing?  I have heard that there can be pockets of malignant cells within Mucinous cysts that may not be detected and am concerned that if they only send in a section of it, it could be incorrectly diagnosed.

2.  I have since had a child (in 2008) and although we hope for another one, my gyn recommends a hysterectomy as I'm obviously prone to mucinous cysts and he doesn't want to risk cancer down the road.  Would that be your recommendation too?

Thank you,
Leigh

Thanks for your advice.  Belive me, we've been trying to "hurry up" for nearly 9 years now :-)  It took 7 for our son to arrive and we've been fighting against the clock since then.  We feel very lucky to have him in our lives and although we are satisfied with just 1 child, we'd certainly love to get lucky again...will see what the world has in store for us :-)
