Hysterectomy is good choice
I was in the er just about a few days ago and they did a vaginal ultrasound . They said that my uterus was mildly heterogenous it measured 8.3 x 4.1 , etc and they also found a paraovarian cyst on my right ovary and just a cyst on my left ovary and back in march of 2011 my obgyn said that I have adenomyosis . Even when I have my periods I bleed down to my legs :( what does the measurements of my uterus my ? What does heterogenous mean ? And with my cyst am I in any health danger ? Espicially having a paraovarian cyst ? Please help ! I'm very scared . I told my docto all this but she doesn't seem to care.

It also showed that on my right ovary I have a paraovarian cyst and my left ovary I have a cyst . And I saw my obgyn back on march 4 and age told me that i may have adenomyosis . What does this all mean ? Is having a paraovarian cyst dangerous ? And by the measurements of my uterus does that means it's somewhat enlarged ? What's going on with me ? Can someone help me ! Plz . Would this mean I would need surgery ? I'm only 22 yrs old and a mother of 2 bby girls .I forgot to add that my actual uterus measured 8.5 x 3.5 x 5.8cm . Is that an enlarged uterus to be concerned ? And they said it was midly heterogenous . My right ovary measured 3.1 x 3.5 x 1.6cm. Then they said there is an incidental 1.1cm right paraovarian cyst . The left ovary measured 2.3 x 1.6x 2.5cm and contains a 1.2cm cyst . Also they said there is no significant pelvic free fluid . And lastly there is no significant fluid in the endometrial cavity . Please someone can tell me what this all means ?:( I've been so scared and worried .

The average uterus measures about 7.5 cm. in length, 5 cm. in breadth at its upper part, and nearly 2.5 cm. in thickness. Therefore, your uterus is not abnormally large. Heterogenous findings on ultrasound means that the texture of your uterus is not the same through out. This probably raises the suspicion of adenomyosis as indicated by your gynecologist. Hysterectomy in my opion is a good option for patients that have failed conservative management or simply declining conservative management for legitimate reasons. Paraovarian cyst just means a cyst around the ovary. The majority of cyst in reproductive age women are benign and do not necessarily warrant surgical intervention. Uterine adenomyosis is a common finding at the time of hysterectomy. If surgical intervention is not advised by your gynecologist, consider the mirena IUD. Thank you,
