I had to have a Hysterectomy , wrong thing to do

I had a Hysterectomy fifteen years ago and It was not a time when people were on the internet as much. So I should have gone another route Having a Hysterectomy was the stupidest thing I have ever done and will regret it for the rest of my life. I ask the Doctor if I would gain weight like ssssoooo many other women I know did. she said oh no it will not happen. Girl it did i use to be 120 lbs and now I am up to 200 lbs. I do eat a little more but for the first ten years I did everything to not gain. I have always been a smart eater always counting calories even though i was a light eater anyway. But nothing keeps me from gaining weight now. My LIFE IS OVER as I knew it. SO sweet Ladys please listen before you have a Hysterectomy please get all the info to make the best thing for you. YOU WILL GET FAT AS A COW. I wish I had had someone to tell me this. Women should help other women i hope this helps you to do the best for you.

Many women are never presented with other 0ptions for treating fibroids that preserve the uterus, such as uterine artery embolization. Uterine artery embolization is a minimally invasive treatment where an interventional radiologist uses a catheter to inject small particles (embolic agents) into the uterine arteries. The goal is to block the blood vessels supplying the fibroids, causing them to shrink and die.

Although UAE / UFE is another procedure for fibroids, it also has a number of risks. A list of those risks documented in the medical literature can be found on the HERS Foundation's website.

I hope you have not or do not experience any of the negatives.

Thank you for posting and warning other women about the damaging effects of hysterectomy, weight gain being just one of many.

I regret mine every day too. :( My doctor was deceptive about my condition and treatment options and I should not have trusted him. Having been his patient for 20 years, I thought I could. Unfortunately, deceit is the main reason there are so many hysterectomies in the U.S. and some other countries. The majority of gynecologists are not honest about their patients' conditions, treatment options and the lifelong damaging effects of hysterectomy. If they were, many women would refuse a hysterectomy as well as removal of one or both ovaries (castration).

The non-profit HERS Foundation has been educating women about the lifelong functions of the female organs since the 1980's but is up against a very lucrative industry. Hysterectomy is emphasized in Graduate Medical Education. Each resident used to be required to do at LEAST 70 hysterectomies. That was recently increased to 85... very concerning. Yet they don't have to do ANY myomectomies even though fibroids are a common cause of hysterectomies. And studies show that one of their other common procedures, endometrial ablation, is increasing women's risk of having a hysterectomy since it can lead to a build up of blood in the uterus and chronic pelvic pain. :(

Buyer beware!
