Migraine sufferer...should I get the hysterectomy?

So this may be weird......I am 43 years old and don't get on the computer very much, but I am so confused.  Scheduled for a Vaginal Hyterectomy along with Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy next Thursday.....here's the confusion.......approximately 6 years ago I had a mini-stroke possibly caused by my Migraines.  My Neurologist is concerned that the migraines will worsen, but I went for a follow-up last week and not only did they see the cyst on the right side of the ovary that was there already, but now they see a cyst on the left side along with thickened endometrial lining.  I have already had an endometrial ablasion about 2-4 years ago and family hx of cervical and ovarian cx.  I will not be able to take hormonal therapy once the procedure is done because of the mini-stroke that I had and I just don't know if I should let the OB stuff go and focus on the migraines.  If someone could advise I'd be greatful.........I don't know what to do.

I understand your fear, especially with having had problems and a stroke before, there is an exercise you can do for legs also..simply lay flat on back , keep legs flat on bed, and point you toes as far back towards the direction of you knees as possible ( it will just be a few inches) then do the opposite, point toes down towards the bed as if a ballerina on point, repeat this in sets of ten , aproximatley once per hour awake.

I have a list of pre and post op hints, would you like me to send them to you via pm?

I do wish for you the best of luck.......I have heard on the up side.......I pray for you and I that some people with migraines actually get better after their hysterectomy........As long as you have a good Neurologist that continues to follow you.....things will be ok........I totally have faith in mine......she's just worried for me.  Good Luch to you.

Thanks so much for responding....it is just very scary with having had a mini-stroke at the age of 37 and multiple surgeries already......I believe this may be # 10 or 11.....this however could impact another preexisting condition and that's scary.  We don't know what type of cyst it is yet......I am looking at different avenues of natural replacement estrogen type of stuff.  I do also know of the "Venodyne Boot"......the thing for the legs, but that would be a temporary fix.........my migraines are what supposedly caused the last stroke.  With less than a week to go I am truely scared.
Thank-you again

Hi

Im glad your neurologist knows of the upcoming surgery. I had my hysterectomy and needed hormones only for 6 months, many women take them some do not. There is an herbal that helps with hot flashes and night sweats its called black cosch...please ask your gyno and neuro before you take this, herbals are still a medicine which can effect pre existing conditions.

With your family history, If I was you Id lean towards getting the procedure done.  Do you know what type of cysts you have?

Ask your gyno his plans for blood clot prevention in the legs post op,,,there is a machine that they hand on end of bed ,,attached to velcrove wraps that are placed on your legs, it tightens and releases at regular intervals,,,in your case I think youd benifit from using this,.
