I have had uterus and cervix removed 11 years ago and my ovaries and fallopian tubes plus 1 pelvic cyst removed 7 years ago.I was put on hrt 8 years ago before my ovaries and fallopian tubes were removed. 6 mo after everything was out a new pelvic cyst grew on my cuff. Because of how many surgeries I have had down their the dr was worried about scar tissue and chose to remove fluid from the cyst instead of removing the cyst. At 5 years later they found a second cyst right next to the 1st one. So far they wont do anything for it now I changed hospitals to mayo clinic and hopefully they will remove the cysts. Its possible tho I could have a third one. I took a year off of the hrt to find out the cyst still grew without hormones. So they don't think the cyst is due to HRT. Any clue to why this happens? I have never had endometriosis. When they aspirated it before it showed lactobacillus, which comes from the intestines as far as I know; in the lab results.
unfortunately if it's endometriosis the only way to get rid of it is to cut out the disease at the root....I too had a hysterectomy with ovaries removed and continued to have endometriosis destroy my pelvis...it was everywhere...I lost half my colon, part of an adrenal gland, my gallbladder, appendix...it has been up my ureter and on my bladder...all after having had a complete hysterectomy...now I have had the disease removed by a TRUE endometriosis excision specialist and am doing pretty well despite the damage done because of being dismissed by dr.'s for decades..so please see and endometriosis specialist and have the disease excised...yes endo can grow without female organs...it actually sets up its own nerve and hormone supply factory....which is most likely what is going on with you...your endo is still in there doing it's thing because most dr.'s don't understand the disease well enough to do more then make things worse..get to a specialist!
I'm afraid I have the same problem. Ovaries and uterus all removed in Oct. 2013 and now I'm almost doubled over in pain just left of center where my uterus was (and presumably left ovary). I have a call into my doctor (not the one who performed the hysterectomy), so we'll see. Pain is increasing a little and becoming more constant. I'm curious as to everyone's hysterectomy procedure?? My doctor used a Veress needle and a Thunderbeat instrument on both ovary removals during the surgery. Did anyone else have these instruments used yet have had a post-hysterectomy cyst too?
Removal of any part of the "reproductive" system (our parts are for much more than reproduction) can cause problems with the remaining parts. That is true of any system - remove or otherwise alter the system and its functions are "crippled." That is why the ovaries oftentimes do not function properly after the uterus is removed. This can cause cysts to form. It can also cause the ovaries to stop functioning completely. INTACT women's ovaries produce hormones into their 80's for good health and well-being.
Another mechanism of pelvic discomfort or pain after pelvic surgery is scar tissue (adhesions). Removal of the uterus also causes displacement and dysfunction of the bladder and bowel which can be uncomfortable or painful.
Hysterectomy also destroys pelvic skeletal integrity. The spine compresses, hip bones widen, and the rib cage falls onto the hip bones. This altered anatomy causes back, hip, and rib cage pain over time as well as the post-hysterectomy belly and loss of the curve in the lower back.
I am starting to believe a study is needed I too had a total hysterectomy...and have been having pain in the same area the cyst use to be now they take a cat scan and see something that looks to be a cyst. I believe it is one. Doctors need to stop being so close minded and think out the box: things happen. Now I sit around in pain and its not fair.
Hmmm - So they did a "complete" hysterectomy (uterus, ovaries, tubes) because you had an ovarian cyst? Yet they could not remove the cyst? Maybe I am misunderstanding.
I am in the hospital right now , 6 weeks after a complete hyster with a non-infected cyst that came from........no one knows!!! They drained it and will probably have to drain it again but leave it in. Where do these come from and will they keep coming back?
Hi, I think I understand your question but to clarify please when you say you had a complete hyster you do infact mean they took your ovaries and fallopian tubes as well as uterus and cervix correct?
I find it very odd indeed that a cyst was in exact spot where ovary used to be..heres my "theory" it happens, drs can leave a sliver a small small portion of ovary , this can be due to any surgical difficulty, it is called an ovarian reminant, this can still produce trickles of hormones and thus,,,,cysts to a person like you prone to cysts
ask your dr his thoughts on this theory if, he perchance performed your surgery he is not likely to admitt any possibility of this,,,
also I dont like the idea of er telling you to go home and use heat..heat can be a really really bad thing,,if a cyst was about to rupture what would heat do help it to rupture,,heat increases swelling and bleeding,,try and ice pack next time, see if it helps better, ice doesnt sound comforting but it really is effective for many types of pain.
I dont have an answer as to why,,but do not stop looking until you find it. I had a situation w my neck it took me 3 years and I had to go from nice to down right mean to get answers so if Nice isnto working get pushy do what you must.
