hormones

I am now 54. At the age of 46, I had a complete hysterectomy.  They put me on hormones, but later took me off.  I am taking Cymbalta for depression and I wonder if I should not be taking some form of hormones.  My husband of 34 years and I are raising two of our granddaughters since they were born (ages 13 & 15).  So there is alot of stress in our home. Any advice from anyone?

I meant to add.... look at the journal on Bioidentical hormones on my profile. My latest comments are there plus a few comments from others. This might be a good place to start some more research.

Please read my profile. I was 47 when I had my complete hysterectomy. I am going to be 56 in a few weeks. Estradiol is key, if you ask me. Please research this and don't take 'no' for an answer if you get the brush-off from the doctor. I am so distraught over this whole issue regarding anti-depressants given for menopausal symptoms. My opinion, but I have been dealing with this for 9 years now... and, the current researchers who work with women and bioidentical hormones all agree that it is time to stop putting a band-aid on a huge problem. We deserve better.

I am going to be in trouble if I don't get to bed soon :)

Mary...

Oh, do you know what type of hormones you were on? Pills? Synthetics? etc...
