Thanks

Do you mean Tramadol, if you do  it is not an antibiotic it is a  narcotic pain pill.

Thanks for your input, I really have looked everywhere for 1st hand experiances from women who have had this surgery. I am less anxious about the surgery after talking with my doctor last thursday, I cant wait till it's done and on my way to recovery. Thank you for all the info, It really does  help.

Sorry meant to say the anti biotics I had where Tremadol, wouldn't recommend unless absolutely neccessary to take. Have a read on internet about them there good as a pain relief but its the coming off them that causes issues as easily can become addictive. Might be worth discussing with consultant before op to find out what it is you are likely to b given.

Hi

The recovery is around 10-12 weeks and to be honest after the 1st 4 weeks you would hardly know you had the operation. I had a really good consultant and the scar has healed really well. In terms of pain if taking pain relief then this should really be enough to carry you through recovery. I really suffered before the op with periods lasting upto 3 weeks at a time and ecrutiating pain so to have this done has been a great relief. The only thing that I suffered with after was a bit of depression and this was largely down to having a reaction to anti biotics and also I have a really active job mentally so because I wasn't using my brain went a bit stir crazy I would suggest keeping as mentally active as possible.
With regards to having a baby this is something we aren't trying for at moment but my consultant said that it shouldn't have an effect when trying to conceive and I have also read other stories where women have conceived very quickly after.
Good luck with the op and make the most of being looked after.

I'm going to have my myomectomy next month on the 12th to remove a fibroid because is it's too close to where a baby would be, so I will have it removed. I will ask as many questions as a can on my pre-op next week. I hope I heal well, I really want to start trying for a baby after the surgery, my doc said I could start after 3 months, we'll see. Good luck to you all and I hope you feel better soon, make sure you tell your doctor all your symptoms, that's what they are there for.
