i had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago. i am still experiencinga lot of pain like the worst menstural cramps ever and it hurts really bad to use pressure to have a bowel movement. Is this normal??

Sorry about the delay, I would recommend you follow up with your gynecologist to address this concern. However it is a common post-op complaint considering the close proximity of the uterus and rectum. It is best to be evaluated by your surgeon. Best wishes!

When you were at the hospital for your hysterectomy, you were given medication for pain.  When that medication wore off, is that when your pain started?  Have you been back to see your surgeon for a 2-week post-op checkup?

When I had my hysterectomy on March 1st, I was given prescriptions for two different pain killers, stool softener and aspirin (as a blood thinner).  I ended up only taking these for one day as they upset my stomach and my bowels were regular.

Having regular bowel movements is *very* important after your surgery.  If these are painful or difficult, you may need a stool softener.  But definitely call your surgeon's office right away!
