I am on coumadin for recurrent blood clots (specifically PE's). I know many people on coumadin for different reasons such as stroke, blood clots in the legs, bleeding disorders that make their blood too thick which predisposes them to strokes and clot formation, etc. They have to check their PT/INR levels fairly frequently because of the variability of this med and adjust the dosage accordingly. I can understand why Hep C would have PT/INR values due to the clotting problems that liver disease causes. But this tracker isn't for montitoring a medicine, it is because of a condition. As I said, coumadin is used for many conditions but those taking this med have similar woes as far as monitoring the levels and dosing goes.
In this new tracker, PT/INR values could be reported but also adjustments in coumadin dosages as well. Personally, I have mine checked at least every month, often more than that because my levels fluctuate so much. As a result, I am constantly changing my coumadin (warfarin) levels, either holding the med (if my PT/INR is too high), increasing it or keeping it the same.
Thank you for your consideration, Sunny :)
For which condition are you trying to monitor your PT/INR values. Prothrombin Time (PT) is already available in the Hep C Tracker. We'd like to determine if we need to create a new tracker or add on to an existing one.
