Health Pages

Health Pages should be specifically designed on some of the forums for reputable information links and medical documents and should not have the edit feature available for anyone to enter information or edit infomation that already exsists.

I found one members entry that stated after a neck surgery if the patient felt dizzy they should tip their neck off the side of their bed and have someone pull them up shaply to get the ear "marbles" back in line.

Oye Vey!!! can you imagine someone reading that and possibly thinking because that was on our health page it must be protocal??

CL's should really be the only able posters to that board and members that have ideas should suggest them to only the CL's with no ability on their own to document such things. It's the Cl's job to have their members correspond with them and the CL then reports to Comm Mgr.

Really if this women felt possibily damaging the surgery of her neck would cure her marble problem - she could have entered that into her journal and let people read it there.

Not a health page.

We understand that the health pages can be a problem if people are deliberating adding incorrect information in there. Hopefully this doesn't happen very often. As Jan214 stated, most of the time the health pages work very well as a collaborative effort. It shouldn't just be the domain of CL's to monitor, create or edit the information. It should collectively encompass everyone's knowledge.

The healthpages have worked wonderfully for our forum.  I would hate not being able to add info there.  We generally post links to other sites that can explain in more professional detail the issues we have with Ovarian Cancer or ovarian cysts.  I don't know what problems you have had on your HPages, but we would not want anyone messing with ours.  We have gone to a lot of trouble to make sure that accurate info from reputable institutions are being added to the healthpages.  The only thing I have ever edited was when someone put a link to a site they thought was for a cancer issue and it turned out to be for a state fair or something.  Other than that we have relied heavily on those pages to get the basic info about cysts and ovarian cancer to our new members who have so many questions.
MH, you had a great idea with the HP's, please don't go messing with it just because one forum had one bit of info that was wrong.
Thanks,
Jan

The post was deleted in the Health Pages I referred about. The point is that to constantly go over something to make it accurate after timely research and have another individual edit it is not good.

Could CL's just have the ability to enter info? and take suggestions from members?

If there's incorrect information on the Health Page, we'd be happy to correct it. Or you can correct it as well given that anyone can edit the page. Can you provide the URL that had the incorrect information?

Health Pages function like a wiki, where users can create, edit, and collaborate on a health-specific topic. The idea is that the collective intelligence of all our members is greater than any specific member. That is why most of the health pages can be edited.

But of course, we do not want inaccurate or misleading information on the site. Please report it to us by responding to this discussion or sending it to our moderators through Contact Us.

Thanks!
