MS community new set up

Just a comment, not liking this new format much. I can't remember who've I've commented on or not, plus I like to follow certain brilliant peeps on this community and now you can't see who has raised what! Boo!

This is the most important problem I see with the new format!: We can not tell who posted a question and who has responded to it without opening each one.

With no names of the questioners or the recent responders, it is very difficult to tell which questions have been answered, which ones I may have posted on, and whether anyone has added a comment after my last post.

It is a huge  waste of time to have to open each thread each day  to see if there has been any activity since I last read it or posted on it.

I spoke too soon!! :-(

Now my OTHER computer has been switched to the miserable new format!

My complaints about it:
1. Unattractive--not so much a forum as just a list of questions; no colorful picture that has been associated with each forum.
2.No "back to community" button
3.  Can not tell who posted a question and who has responded to it without opening each one.
4. NO EXPLANATION regarding what the various bubbles, triangles, etc.,are for.
5. A box under EVERY post in a thread for the reader to use, rather than just at the bottom, which had always kept the responses in order.

Yes, as someone said, this is a major example of "If it isn't broken, don't fix it!!"

Hi everyone -

Thanks for all the feedback on the new design. We are sorry you aren't happy with it. We'd really appreciate it if you could go to the bottom of your screen and click on Contact Us or Help, and send us your feedback that way, or use this link - https://medhelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

We haven't gone to 100% roll out on the new design, so not everyone will see it, and it's a work in progress. We appreciate your patience, and cooperation.

A note - Cheryl doesn't move threads from communities, the moderators do. We move these threads to this community so others can see them, and so we can have them all in one place to answer them. Only a few of us answer them, and it's just simply more efficient for us.

Thanks again!

Emily

Sorry, in that first point I meant to say that you can access the old format of the MS Community by clicking on options on the top right corner and clicking "Full Site," not "Communities."

Could you please give additional insrtuctions for changing back to the original format? I can't locaye anything at the top right that says options or "Full site." I'm on a desktop, if that makes a diffrerence. Thanks.
MedHelp just informed me "full site" is only for mobile users. :-( Thanks ayway...

You can however access the old format by going to "Communities" (click on top right corner for a list of options).

You can also see your posts in the new format by logging in, which takes you to "My Home" and clicking on "Posts."

I think all of the same info is there. I just don't care for the layout of the community pages in the new mobile format. Like you say, it doesn't display in the main page who has commented on what, until you go into each individual post. There are also fewer posts displayed in the same amount of space, so it's a lot of scrolling. First world problems lol.

Thank you, I'll see if I can change it back
The problem we are complaining about is that you cannot see who posted or answered a question without opening each one! I tried your suggestion of checking off newet vs active, and it made no difference re names being shown.

Dee, I still see a yellow pansy for you, in the new and old formats.

I'm seeing a yellow pansy for your icon, but I'm in the "old version" right now.

hmmm, this is odd, my Avatar has been changed.  Not sure what that is about, it has always been a yellow pansy, I guess in the scheme of things it isn't a big deal.  I have been told that this is a rolling change where 30% of us will see the new format.  Yes, you can try logging out and back in and you "might" get back to the old format however it has not worked for me
Thank you all for writing to "contact us" I really don't see the point since we are writing here on MedHelp Suggestions but I follow directions.

Could you please give more instructions for changing back to the original format?

I looked at the top right under the options, but couldn't locate anything that said "Full site."

Thanks!

Hi there -

Yes, the newest vs active doesn't make a difference, unfortunately. We are tracking your feedback, and I understand you are upset, but please be patient.

Thanks,

Emily

Mm, I get the part that there ate t lots of you and it's more efficient for you etc - main issue with that is the 'for you' part I'm afraid.

The users of the communities for the most part either have serious illness or disability to contend with. Making your site 'useable' and allowing people to fully communicate in a way that makes their disability less restricting surely has to be a serious consideration too?

As JJ says, a copy/paste to the suggestion site - which incidentally I also posted the same information to - and leaving a note on the thread in its original place would have signposted interested parties to it easily.

This is an amazing resource for people to use and has been a genuine life saver for many folks seeking support, answers, friendship etc. keeping it like that has to be a priority doesn't it?

Thanks

I experienced all the same difficulties you mentioned with the new format!

(For those of you who weren't switched, pray it doesn't happen!)

Fortunately, I found today that I had been switched back to the much more useful and easier to use original format. Yay!

Hope you were, too...

Hey Cheryl,

I respectfully suggest you consider 'not' removing threads that are site related issues from the MS community, as it is very useful to every other MS community member, who will be additionally experiencing difficulties.

As it stands, removing posts, removes support information away from the actual community and into one that hardly any MSer is going to go hunting for when they are already experiencing site issues. Additionally by removing the thread, you are also ending an active discussion away from the community, and you will loose any added value information, you may have received if the discussion had remained in situ.

Copying the thread may serve both community and medhelps with a better option.....

Food for thought.........JJ

The place for this kind of comment is the forum called Improve MedHelp Suggestions, if you can find it under Communities. The moderators (MH employees) answer questions there.

Just sent this note, fingers crossed (though I've tried to reply on here - 4th time lucky!),

Hi
I've just experienced the latest version of Medhelp. This MS Community has been an absolute lifeline to both me and others who use it.
Being new to my MS diagnosis I have followed many of the 'old hands' and picked up so much information from reading their posts to other MS-ers.
I used to watch to see who was commenting and on which topics, the new format takes this away.

We all support each other and have quickly grown to being a fabulous group on online friends and support, I don't know how I'd have got through those early days as I don't know anyone else with MS.

Also, one of my main ongoing disabilities with MS (and a large percentage of others), is cognitive function is impaired. For most it is short term memory including recall of things they have said or done.
Not being able to see which posts I've commented on, or respond to others who have commented on my comments is a disaster for me and others like me.

For MS this is a real issue, one possibly not a reality for those without that disability.

Navigating round on my iPad is tricky, this has just made it harder.

I had put myself forward to be a Co-Community Leader for MS, though I've not heard back yet if I'm needed. This change will make it soooooo difficult for us to get the same support from our friends - they just won't know when we are needed to perhaps back up what someone else has said (when a question is raised, having several people say the same or similar things can be very stress relieving).

Please consider those using the various forums and their needs/disabilities. I'm sure many of us would be more than happy to beta test. At the very least, please make it easy to see how to get back to the previous version.

Thank you
Nx

This kind of thing gets more and more complicated because of the great variety of 'devices' out there. Right now I'm using a Lenovo Yoga 2, which is a hybrid between laptop, touch screen, and a bunch of other confusing and to me unnecessary features. I'm still seeing MH in the old way. However, some functions don't work properly--accessing messages, for instance.

I've been on this site for 8 years. There have been a lot of changes, and a lot of programming screw-ups, but it really isn't all that hard, unless their database is a mess. I used to do some of this kind of work myself, so I'm fairly knowledgeable. Ultimately it will all settle down. Unfortunately minus features many of us found essential, such as the MS Health Pages. We were promised them back a good 2 years ago, and nothing. So that's my personal gripe.

I had been a member of the CL community since it was created, but strangely after all these years i'm no longer a member, so unfortunately what little information I have is from months back.....It was announced at that time, that a new mobile set up was going live within hours for only a selection of users.

Basically the bottom line is that the new mobile format is going to  happen.......corrections will never even be considered if they are unaware of the negative impact it is truly having on our community, please contact medhelp to let them know if something isn't working right, the contact option is found at the bottom of the page.

I just checked my tablet, and laptop and i've still got the old format on all of mine, but i got DH to access the medhelp MS community on his Iphone and err it's not as user friendly imho......As a first time-er looking on his Iphone for our MS community, he googled as you do and as he was looking specifically for MS, he found his way through to the main medhelp site.

Not finding us under 'communities' at the top of the page he exited back to the beginning because he absolutely knows we're here....only found us by hunting and stumbling onto the full A-Z community list and scrolling and scrolling and scrolling.

As a first time guest looking at our community, his first access to us only gave him posts dating back to 2007, knowing the community is up to date he went into his menu [top right 3-4 horizontal lines] to change it and noticed he had the option of changing the set up to 'full site' instead of the automatic mobile set up he was on.

Finally he'd found the MS community and what was going on today, the screen lists all the current threads as it did but as you said it's missing who actually posted with this new mobile set up. When you go in to the thread though, it does change to include all the posters id's within that thread, so the way it looks using this mobile format, unless you go into a thread and or have the memory of an elephant, you'll not have a clue who posting what.

It's possible the new format is now automatic using any smart phone, for the time being it's still the old format on pc and your menu, might give you this 'full site' option depending on your system but i'm basically as clueless as everyone on the why of it....sorry!

Hope that helps........JJ
