I can't even figure this format out!! Why are there boxes with my icon under every comment? Are we supposed to comment on other people's comments instead of respond to the questioner? And what are the triangles and numbers for? (There is no explanation.)
Again, PLEASE go back to the clearer, more easily understandable, more attractive original format!!
I hate this new format for the forums! PLEASE go back to the format where each question and who/how many have responded is clearly evident at a glance!
i ve not seen it but if you dont see author of the posts the forum can become useless with zero humanity
i really like the persons behind the posts, it makes everything different, without author of posts i dont think i ll stay here
I spoke too soon!! :-(
Now my OTHER computer has been switched to the miserable new format!
My complaints about it:
1. Unattractive--not so much a forum as just a list of questions; no colorful picture that has been associated with each forum.
2.No "back to community" button
3. Can not tell who posted a question and who has responded to it without opening each one.
4. NO EXPLANTION regarding what the various bubbles, triangles, etc.,are for.
5. A box under EVERY post in a thread for the reder to use, rather than just at the bottom, which had always kept the responses in order.
Yes, as someone said, this is a major example of "If it isn't broken, don't fix it!!"
Seems like nearly every complaint about the change has been along the same lines, I hope this trial is, therefore, not released but put on the "scrap it" pile for low user acceptance scores!
I had raised my own thread before seeing all these other comments so there is definitely something wrong.
Yes, thank goodness the previous user interface is back. Like bluebutterfly, I was about ready to drop out of medhelp over this. There was already one bad site update earlier this year, and I'm still not completely over that. Another one would be too much. Plus, I think it was a real loss that Experts were discontinued. This latest thing would just be too, too much, so thank you for remedying it.
The worst thing about this recent trial balloon was not being able to see who has already responded to a thread. I need to be able to see that, without having to click on the thread itself. It seems like things were changed, just for the sake of change, without really understanding how people use the site.
It seems the people that ARE in the "trial pool" rec'd no communication or direction as to how to use this effectively and are just left to experiment on our own. And if Community Leaders are not part of this trial...how will they know how to counsel or lead their communities? I, unfortunately, am part of this "trial pool" and I find it VERY un-user friendly. You have to scroll through every single post to read the latest comment made on a thread. You have no idea who wrote the thread until you open it. The star, triangle and circle icons I have played with and find no added benefit. I'm not sure what is happening to MedHelp, but the recent changes are not going to attract new readers.....in fact, it is so difficult to figure out, those who are really sick and need help will move on to another web site/ source of help. Having a "comment" box under each post and then also having a place to "answer" is quite unnecessary and also confusing. We lost our "Health Pages" in each forum and now the format is being "tested" for a change. I can only tell you that many of the benefits I received as a newbie on MH over 3 years ago are no longer available. What happened to "if it ain't broke, don't fix it?" I have only used this new "trial format" for half a day and can tell you it will affect my participation in the future. Communicating the "how to's" somewhere would be prudent for those of us attempting to use this new format on our own.
The new interface, which is a very bad format, does not appear on all browser types. Safari uses it, but not Google chrome, also the android based Samsung tablet shows the old format.
Lately, some formatting experimentation was already visible. Most of the time all this change is caused by an effort to increase the commercial value of the site. I doubt that they will keep this newest format when all the important answerers will leave.
I'll put my comment on as many threads as I can manage:
My memory is affected by MS amongst other things.
1. New format (NF) makes it very difficult to follow what's going on
2. NF makes it difficult to follow the experienced answerers who may have info we need but are too shy to ask about
3. NF makes it a,most impossible to follow answers you've given to try to help someone
4. NF makes everything very impersonal
5. NF makes it hard to build friendships and support those you have
6. NF makes it very hard to support others answers where confirmation might help the person asking
7. There are so many people taking the trouble to complain about it, surely that must tell you it isn't good!?
8. Several have offered to act in an advisory/beta tester type role prior to any future roll outs - and to give opinion on any proposals to avoid this recurring.
9. Have you ever heard of User Acceptance Testing? Or User Requirements? Where have these changes come from - surely time would be better spent on adding useful things that the users want?
Thanks
Nx
Suddenly, today, I have back the original format for forums.
Thank you, thank you!!
Soooo much easier to read and to use than the "trial balloon" I had to deal with for a couple of days.
I was about ready to quit using the site, d/t the unwelcome/unpleasant changes.
and, as mentioned, this is a limited release, so if you aren't seeing it, you aren't part of the trial pool yet. Please don't fret - it's a work in progress.
Hi - we're looking at options right now, based on the way that people use and access our site. I'm sorry that it's causing issues for you. Could you let us know, specifically, what's causing problems for you?
It would be best if you go to your home page;
http://www.medhelp.org/personal_pages/my_home
and click the "help" link that appears, and let us know via that method.
Thanks for the explanation! I use Firefox and Safari, so I assume it is the standard.
