IP is inherited in an X-linked dominant manner. It is lethal in most, but not all, males. Affected women have a 50% risk of transmitting the mutant allele at conception; however, most affected male conceptuses miscarry. Though IP would not affect conception as such, it increases the risk of miscarriages and abortions. At times the miscarriage may occur early in the course, before pregnancy can be detected.IP is passed as an X-linked dominant trait and men will pass IP to all daughters but not to sons. You may consider consultation with a geneticist and a gynaecologist for discussing the situation in detail and for appropriate management, if required.
