Infection.

Hello,

I am a 31 years old male. had a sexual encounter where the condom broke with a guy. i started having fevers for now 3 weeks, always at day 37.5 and at night reachs 37.8-38C, my CRP levels are 64 then after a week 34 and now 42.
Liver S-Alat showed 100 where limits are supposed to be 50-70.
I am not sure if its HIV, i had a test after 3 weeks of the incident Antigen HIVAbAg and came back negative, so my doctor today did a mono virus test EBV and CMV cytomegalovirus and am waiting the result.

Reading everything online has made very anxious and am all paranoid about having hiv but well what the heck we all gonna die a way or another, even that will be a disaster.

My question is how long this low grade fever will last, i have no other symptom except a white tongue as they gave me on 2 weeks 2 antibiotics basically that messed up my system.

Will i be able to work? I am feeling energetic during day and only night sweats and fever at night. if anyone can enlighten me that would be great based on experience or insight. I will have a rapid HIV test tomorrow and lets hope thats negative.-

Well it seems a blood test showed a primary infection of CMV Cytomegalovirus and that based on the doctor what causes the fever and tiredness. Unfortunatly, an infection formed and an abscess was found on groin and removed by doctor.
Fever started to reduce and am getting more energy but it seems back then what made things worse was the antibiotics given for a virus infection that made me weak and loose apetite.
Anyhow, HIV is eliminated but will still have a rapid test again next week. But it seems CMV can make a low grade night fever and sweat last long. Thanks for your reply!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How was the other diagnostic test results? I understand your concern regarding this and waiting for results can indeed be very stressful. It is good that initial results were negative. However, it would help if you know the medical history also of your partner. HIV test may need to be repeated after the window period of 3-6  months. Fever may be attributed to a variety of issues also including both viral and bacterial infection. How long the fever will last will depend on the underlying cause. Additional test may need to be done if the results of the other tests are unremarkable. A referral to an infectious specialist may also help. Take care and do keep us posted.
