Just diagnosed with colonized MRSA

I am still trying to deal with all the new procedures I have to adopt now that i know I have MRSA.  I don't like it, my hands are raw from washing and I'm scared that i'm going to give it to those around me.  No one can give me a straight answer about this disease and they all take a step or two back when i tell them, even my doctors.  I'm feeling a little isolated.  I think with time I will adapt but i have one question that I want answered badly.

Can I still grow my veggie garden this spring or will me touching the plants infect them?  I don't want to grow a garden if no one can eat from it except me.  At the same time, i LOVE raising veggies i the spring and summer.

Does anyone know the answer?

I can't tell you anything for sure but with the little understanding I have I would say you can grow your veggies. My wife has MRSA and we disinfect eveything. I'm sure washing the veggies will be sufficient. Good luck.

If you're afraid of spreading it to those you live with, relax--chances are you already have.  I also have MRSA, and my doctor told me that unless I had a compromised immune system there wasn't anything to worry about.  And don't be hypervigilant and use anti-bacterial soaps and cleaners--this only encourages the MRSA staph to mutate and become stronger and more resistant, as does using antibiotics.  I would stay away from antibiotics unless my life depends on it.  Try natural remedies instead, like nascent iodine, pao d'arco, garlic, etc.  A good place for more info is at naturalnews-dot-com.
