Mono? Airborne/Door knob/Etc

Hi guys,

I was walking and a person I knew has mono coughed in my direction. I was around 5 feet away and immediately held by breath so that I don't inhale anything. I then walked away from that area.

Is mono known to be transmitted through the air in such a scenario? Also, if I touched a door knob or laptop touched or used by a person with mono and proceed to eat food using my hands right after that, is mono a possibility for me?

Thanks....

Hi, No you can't get mono in the ways you described. You have to eat or drink after a person using their utensils or glass. It is only transmitted through an object that is moist, for example with that person's saliva. So from what you describe you don't have a possibility of getting it. Also, most people have been exposed to the EBV virus (that causes mono) by the time they are an adult so you probably already have antibodies to it anyway.
