My grandfather takes care of street cats outside home can I be exposed to rabies?

My grandfather takes care of street cats outside home and the cats lick his bare feet and he walks around the house bare feet and I just got wounded on the floor can I be exposed to rabies?

Please help I am scared that everything has rabies and I am scared to be exposed especially since I have lots of wounds on my hands and legs.

Asking from Quezon City, Philippines.

Rabies is, typically, transmitted via bites from an infected animal.  If the cats your grandfather pets had rabies, they wouldn’t be licking him or letting him pet them.  In addition, rabies can only live a couple of seconds outside the body, so even in the unlikely situation that one of them might be infected, the rabies can’t live outside.

You have to come into “direct” contact with rabies in order to be infected.

I agree that if there was saliva on the floor if it gets dried out then it cannot infect you.
