Should I take the Cipro ?

I tested positive for C Difficile Culture and negative for Cytotoxin B Production. I was prescribed Cipro 500mg 2x for 3 days. I was also instructed to finish Metronidazole 500mg 3x a day that was  previously prescribed  for suspected parasite. I tested negative for a parasite.

I took z pack and Cipro one month ago. I believe one or both of these antibiotics could be a contributing factor in getting c diff. I can't find any literature on C diff being treated with a Cipro/ Metronidazole combo. It seems like the standard treatment is Metronidazole for 10 days.

I was prescribe Cipro/ Metronidazole by an NP as my doctor who was working on my case left the facility. Should I get another appointment to ask for more Metronidazole ? Should I take the Cipro ?

Hi and sorry you got the run around. You can carry C. difficile and if you don't have symptoms and since you don't have the toxin B then  you don't need treatment. So, if you don't have symptoms you don't need the antibiotic. If you want to finish the course of metronidazole for the parasite you can even though they didn't find one. Sometimes it takes several specimens to find one.  Do you have diarrhea? If so, how often do you have diarrhea per day? Or are you over it?
take care,
