Staph infection

My wife has a staph infection she had to be admitted in to the hosp. She's on antibiotics throuh iv. Night she bumped the sore by acceident and puss came out and she is more pain than before is this a good thing that it is draining?

Glad you went in. Hope she recovers quickly. Staph can be easily spread. So be sure to wash all towels, wash rags etc., and anything she used including clothes she wore, maybe sheets and pilow cases, in hot soapy water before using them. You may want to clean down the counters and door knobs etc. I know this sounds overkill but you don't want it to come back. Hope she recovers soon.

Thnks since my post the doc cut it open and poped two pockets this was few days ago she now has a straw in there and gauze so it can drain. They told her she can come home today. She's been in there for five days. With heavy antibiotics and pain meds.

Usually, the doctor drains the Staph infections because it can make it spread if you do it yourself. Anytime there is more pain with an infection you should see the doctor to make sure it hasn't cause the infection to get worse. Is she home now or still in the hospital? If not I would go in to see the doctor.
