What Direction

I'm asking this for my dad. He's been battling this unknown disease for 3 years now. No one knows what it is, but it has led to a bone infection. He's lost half his jaw, and no one knows what the cause is or how to cure. He's seen infectious disease doctors from UAB, Vanderbilt, and even the Cleveland clinic. No one has been able to help him. He is a mess. I'm trying to figure out what the next step should be. His infection is getting so close to his brain that we are starting to fear the worse. The doctors at Vanderbilt are sending him back to UAB where he's been the longest, but has had the least success. It took 6 months to get his doctors at UAB to refer him to a new doctor at Vanderbilt, just to be at Vanderbilt for less then 2 months and have them move him BACK to UAB. What UAB has done, is nothing! They haven't succeeded in any treatments for him at all. I'm going to include my dads facebook link so you can read his entire story/case. I just don't know where to go from here. I'm not sure what hospital/doctor to ask to go to.. i need direction so i can help my dad.. any advice is greatly appreciated!

Yes I read your fathers story. I 'm very sorry he went through all that surgery. I put a note on your journal. Do you know what type of bacteria caused this or is causing this? Did they do culture or a biopsy? It sounds like Actinomyces. They can normally live in the mouth but become invasive when you get dental procedures or tonsillitis or a break in the soft tissue. Then it can start to invade the tissues. This is especially if his immunity is low. Read my comment. You can Message me if you like about it. But as to where to go other than that is a difficult situation. Other than what I mentioned on the Journal.
