If your infections are viral antibiotics won't work. Have you had a sputum culture done?
Hi and sorry you are still ill. I would take the Clarithomycin as they said to do. It sounds like a bad bacterial infection. Why don't you ask the doctor why so long on the Clarithormycin. It must be a deep infection. You need to find out what fungus it is too. I don't know what the CT score means. It sounds like the infection is near your eyes and so you have to be careful. Follow what they say.

have seen ENT specialist- he put me on urgent surgery Endoscopic sinus surgery, never know when they will do this.
They noted Lund Mackay score of CT scan at 13, what does it mean?
asked for Carthromycin 500 mg 1 a day for 90 days, does this is ok to take for such long period. You know on CT scan it mentioned that it may be fungal desease, doctors are not ready to do tests -like blood culture.
While examine at ENT clinic endoscope struck just at start of both nostrills, means these are struck badly.
headache at center and backside of head near/ears and travels it from right to left. swelling is clearly appeared on forehead and near to eyes.
Visited Emergency they assessed me at level 2 of severity, guide
I looked at the calendar and October 18th was a Sunday. They don't process TB specimens on the weekend it will take another week or two to get the final answer. Be patient. This week is a holiday and the results would normally be out on around the end of this week. So maybe next week. Since there are two holidays they are probably short staffed. They don't read TB cultures on the weekend. So that is probably why. You should get it soon. Since the smear was negative you mostly are negative. I will be out of town on Christmas day and Friday so I just thought I would let you know. Have a good holiday. Did you see a doctor about the fungus on the lung?
take care,

On my visit doctor office, they refused that they did not get report of culture.
Under preliminary report - it was mentioned that this specimen is being cultured for mycobacteria. culture will be held for 7 weeks. verified 10/18/2014.
Please guide that what can be happened to this specimen.?
Under upper part of report they mentioned -Concentrated smear for acid fast bacilli- No Acid fast bacilli seen.
At the same time - 18 october 16.53 MDT mentioned that this specimen is being cultured for 7 weeks.
After 18 October, now sufficient time passed, what ever report is-at least testing lab must have sent the out come after preliminary report.
There must be something careless.
Please guide in medical terms, you can do
Yes it is possible that a culture can pick up more than a smear. But, it is not very likely. But also not impossible. The smear is a preliminary result.
mkh9
what can be this-A culture could pick up something more than a smear.
grt, looks no TB something like infection and fungal.
Does fungal can be detected in culture?
What can be done in asking doctor in case culture is positive as mentioned in my last post, for positive test-what were those tests before to proceed.
Well so far the test is negative for TB. A culture could pick up something more than a smear. But it is not likely since they concentrate it. But final results will tell the results for sure. It sounds good so far.
mkh9
How are You?
My Mycobacteria AFB smear culture was done- on Oct.18.2014, Reads-
Concentrated Smear for Acid fast Bacilli -- NO ACID FAST BACILLIN SEEN.
Report says - Mycobacteria AFB smear and culture: performed at PROV LAB CALGARY.
PREMILIMINARY REPORT SAYS-
Specimen is being cultured for mycobacteria, culture will be held for 7 weeks.
Ordering Doctor office called for his appointment which is for tomorrow at 11.00 A.M.
Please guide - what are the expectations from this result?
What diagnose can be done on this test? because doctor called ??
Do you suggest more tests before goes on treatment?
Does this link goes towards TB or any thing.
Yes, for Aspergilloma, they use cortisone or a steroid. It is necessary. That is good they are doing to do a culture and it all sounds good.
I hope during the guided surgery they can do the culture of the fungus in the chest. Maybe you can ask that question.

Well you can see what they say in family medicine and if it isn't good enough see a infectious disease. It is important.
mkh9
he is walk in doctor and family medicine,
Well, if you want to talk to the doctor that ordered the CT scan that had the fungus result on it. I don't know what kind of doctor that was. You can see what that doctor says or that kind of doctor. What was he?
mkh9
ok dont know in calgary they will refer to infectious disease specialist.
will try
It depends on the fungus type. Some fungi are resistant to Fluconazole. That is why you need to find out what type it is. My aunt has a Aspergillus (called an aspergilloma) on her lung so it is a particular type. The doctor told her she had to take both steroid and anti-fungal medication for it. I asked my former director who is world renowned for infectious disease, and he said yes you have to have both the steroid to heal the damage to the lung plus the anti-fungal to kill the fungus. So you need to find out if what you have is an aspergilloma or not. If it is you have to take the steroid with it. This isn't something you can self medicate or try to go around and not get the identification of it is necessary for survival. If it turns out to be something less serious that is great but I would see a good infectious disease doctor even if you have to pay for it.
mkh9
thanks.
I was at following link-http://www.cllsupport.org.uk/Newly%20diagnosed%20cll%20patients.pdf mentioning few words- its relations -Vit D and infections,
Does with fluconazole 100 mg for 7 days sinus fungal infection can go?,
Low vitamin D is just low exposure to sunlight. It is common in all of North America. So Canada and the US are all low in vitamin D. My husband and I both have to take supplements. Even though it is sunny here we don't want to get skin cancer by staying 1 hour in the sun every day to get enough sunlight to get enough vitamin D. So we take supplements.
mkh9
what do you think low Vit D is linked to fungal sinusitus, low immunity,
Ok, I see they are gone. That is good.
mkh9
those were removed, great for you
