Oversleeping

My dad is 86 and will sleep for 48 straight hours! He has just started doing this over the past several months. I am very concerned and would like to know what could possibly be causing it. He won't even wake up long enough for my mom to give him his medications.

He needs to see his doctor since this is likely the result of a medical problem and is very atypical.

These are questions for his doctor who prescribes all of these medications and knows his medical history.

Do you think it could be his medications that may be causing his oversleeping? He takes Atacand, Norvasc and Bystalic for blood pressure, Zolof, Restasis for his eyes and an Excelon Patch for his memory. He is very stubborn and refuses to go to a geriatric doctor and his own doctors don't seem to know nor do they seem concerned about what's causing it.

Thanks
