extremely painful urination even when clear!

I am a 18 year female, and ive been suffereing from a "unrinary tract infection" since november 2008! I have been on 2 courses of trimethoprim since and this has not stoped my pain. I was then sent to a consultant who sent me for a kidney scan and a bladder examination; after these tests I found out that I have "calcification of the kidney". So I was put on Nitrofurantoin for a month but still no real change.

I'm constanlty uncomfortable in the general private area, and the only relief i can get is from being in a steaming hot bath. I now only drink water and dilute non citrus juices. It has really effected my life as I feel uncomfortaby and panic when I am out in public and recieve the pain when I go to the toilet and after. I really need some advice as what to do to make my life easier and also any idea what on earth is going on with my body! :(

I really hope you can help me,
Thank You.

HI,  the question is--what is your diagnosis?  Are your symptoms coming from a true bacterial infection, or is there something else like Interstitial Cystitis causing your symptoms? You note that you have "high white blood cells in the urine"  and blood>  You need a urine culture off antibiotics to determine if there is a true infection.  Blood in the urine can be a sign of another problem in the urinary tract including kidney or ureteral stones, a tumor or other types of bladder lining problems.  It sounds like you need to see a Urologist if you have not already.  Calcifications in the kidney probably mean you have kidney stones. If the pelvic pain is not from an infection your Urologist will be able to evaluate you for Interstitial Cystitis.  The typical symptoms are urinary frequency, urgency and pain related to bladder filling.  At some point you will need a cystoscopy and hydrodistention to check for IC and rule out other problems related to the blood in the urine.  Go to "ichelp.org", the official website of the Interstitial Cystitis Association for more info on IC and read the section on how to get a correct diagnosis.  Good Luck
