Annoying bladder problem

I have the constant urge to urinate and it is a regular amount (no dribbling).  I have constant pressure.  Went to dr. no infection.  I am a 61 female.  I have to get up once during the night, never had to do this before.  I took over counter UTI (AZO test strip) and the tip turned purple (infection), but at dr.'s showed no infection.  What could it be?

That's better than being diagosed with IC!   The infection will clear up with the
antibiotic your doctor will prescribe and soon you'll be feeling fine!  IC  is a whole
other ballgame....you don't want any part of that!

thank you for the response and advice.  I found out yesterday that the dr. had my urine specimen sent for a culture and voila,  it showed infection.  I have been prescripted Cipro for 7 days so hopefully that will work.  I also stay away from acidic foods mostly due to having had ulcers don't want them acting up again.  Good advice.

Take care

You have to ask your doctor why the strip turned purple.

When my last UTI turned out not to have an infection, and the antibiotic gave me no
relief, I had a urologist look into my bladder.  Based on my other symptoms like
the freguent need to urinate and an irritated feeling in my bladder, almost like a stinging
sensation, he diagnosed IC.

Now I take Elmiron and I also make sure I stay away from acidifying foods and try to
stay on the alkaline side.  Works for me.

Talk to your doctor.
