Hi! I am a 67-year-old man who just had an echocardiography test after my primary care physician noticed a heart murmur. The main findings are 1) moderate aortic valve scierosis with no measurable gradient and 2) stage 1 diastolic dysfunction. What would be your advice at reading these results? I know the key is precenting or delaying this turning into aortic stenosis. What is the typical timeframe for this? In two weeks I face urology surgery. Is there any special info the surgeon should know about this heart valve issue? Thank you.

The aortic sclerosis may progress to aortic stenosis but this is over several years time. You should have another echo in say 2 years and you should be fine for the surgery.
My ejection fraction was 69%. I believe that is somewhat on the high side but not sure what that indicates. Thank you.
