Enlarged Aortic root

I am not sure if I am in the correct forum but I have some questions about the aortic root.  I am 26 years old in good physical shape with a family history of heart problems.  I have about 5000 PVC's per day.  I am on Sythroid and Lisiniprol.  I had an echo done that said my aortic root was 4.4cm.  Then I had a CT scan done that said it was 3.7cm.  Which one do I believe.  The cardiologist said we will check it again in 2 years.  Does that sound correct to you?  Should they be more concerned?  One of my unlces died at age 35 from an anuerysm.

Hi ajr81,

Be sure to talk to your cardiologist about the drugs called ARBs.  Please visit www.marfanlife.net, even if you don't have Marfan Syndrome, and check the thread on "losartan."

I would be inclined to put more weight on the CT scan.I would get it followed at least annually and more often than that if the rate of growth is increasing. Have you been evaluated for Marfan's syndrome?
