need help

i couldn't post in the high blood pressure the box is to full, hopefully somebody here can help me concerning my mom. for 14 years shes been on half a pill in the morning. Atenol/Chlor 50-25mg  and xanax for her hypertensive. at the time she was taking 2 whole pills broken up in halves spaced out throughout the day. a whole pill is 0.5 mg. for 14 years no problem n then she over did it on the lawnmower and her blood pressure spiked up that night. went to er . got a vasotec shot, next night same thing for the whole week same thing. seen her doc and he quiet her overnight to coreg, she had a reaction the next day sharpness of breath and weakness, so i got her back on her antenol/chlor and he put her on anxiety med called Lorazepam .5mg 2 tablets a day and said to use it with ur xanax, however the druggest said thats way to much. plus he put her on enalapril 10mg half a tablet in the evening around 6:30 pm when it tends to go up.several days the Lorazepam had her so drugged up n mega weakness, stumbling , hardly functioning, i had to take her off the Lorazepam.  enalapril in the evening seems to help. if she didn't take it , her blood pressure would go up and her hypertensive would start n want to set in. they took a thyroid blood test n wont getresults in until tuesday. however i feel he shouldn't put her on the Lorazepam like the druggest said it was way to much for her system with the xanax and shes been takin xanax for 28 years and would have to very very slowly be weaned off onto something thats not addictive for her hypertensive nerves.
furthermore i dont know why all of sudden she has to take more medicines if for 14 years all she needed was the Atenol/Chlor and her xanax. she also takes a potassium and diebetic pill once in morning n night and a chlorestrol med at night. i dont no what to do n shes very weak every other day. oh 6 months ago she stop takin her hormone pills, could that be the reason??

well her blood tests for thryoid n etc came out perfect. so dont know what the problem is.
other than my asumption with her being off her hormone pills.
the Enalapril isn't doing the trick no longer. she takes it in the evening at 6:30 pm and around 9 and midnight both times her blood pressure spikes up. only thing to get it down is 15 min hot bath soaks.
shes off the Lorazepam pill. she feels better n etc. but the blood pressure going up n down in the night hours is wearin her down. this morning tho it dropped to low it was 76/46  after moving around n eating breakfaast it got back to normal and she was able to take her morning Atenol/chlor blood pressure med. it keeps it stable from morning to evening. however dont know if she should be weaned off her Enalapril n try a evening dosage of her Atenol. although when this all started with her blood pressure going up in the evening she tried takin an atenol and it didn't work for her blood pressure.  so it sure does seem to be something going on that the regular doctor dont have a clue about. although im sure hes going try changin her blood pressure med in the evening AGAIN.
although i feel this going on for 3 weeks now im sure mom can't take much more of this. anybody have a clue..  it seemed when she had this issue 14 yrs ago only a cardiologist was able to get her back on track.

ok thanks for clarifying that info to me.. its appreciated. although she has a sinus infection in her head last several weeks. dont suppose a bad sinus infection contributes for elevations in blood pressure? also what would cause a 63 yr old female that never had sleeping issues until all of sudden? being i dont think its anxiety or nerves, the more i take watch of her. its just insonomia all of sudden. wierd but true. doc put her on Lorazepam but after reactions she can't sleep with takin it so i took her off gradually n down to a 1/4 of the pill shes able to sleep. thanks Doc for answering my questions.

As our body ages the blood vessels in our body get mor stiff and the blood pressure goes up. This is usually the case for needing more medication to control the blood pressure with increasing age. It is unlikely that this is directly related to her stopping her hormone pills. Her mood and anxiety changes may be contributed to by her stopping the hormone pill.
