Constant Lower Abdoinal Pain

I'm a 22 year old male and I have had IBS now for a long time (I'm talking since I was a kid, but ever anything more serious than a small case of diarrhea that after I went I was fine.). At least that's what my doctor seems to think when I first told him about my abdominal problems. I had a bunch of problems earlier in the year that eventually subsided and then came back again in the middle of May, but finally subsided a couple weeks later. During the second spout of IBS pain I had a blood test done and a CT scan of my lower abdomen (without contrast because I'm awful with needles and IV and stuff), and both of those came back normal. By the time I got those back I was feeling better anyways, and that entire IBS episode ended with about a week of constipation, but luckily I felt better though and everything was back to normal. The symptoms I had at the time were lower abdominal "fullness"/bloating feeling, general cramp feeling, and the constipation. (never any other symptoms though. no blood in stool, no tiredness or weakness or anything)

2-3 weeks after the second episode and now I'm into this crap again. It started off Monday night. I felt a little lower abdominal discomfort but didn't think much of it because I thought I just had gas or something. (Which is normal for me.) Tuesday I felt a little more discomfort but it was on and off throughout the day and still nothing that really bothered me. Wednesday I definitely felt the discomfort. It was more on than off and noticeably more uncomfortable. (I should note the night before I had a much larger/solid bowel movement than I typically have.) Thursday for the most part felt the same as Wednesday. (Had a small bowel movement, but I hadn't eaten a whole lot on Wednesday so its understandable.) Friday I was driving most of the day, and for the first time I actually felt a bit of dull soreness along with the general unconformable feeling but I figured that was probably just the driving. When I got home Friday I actually felt quite a bit better. Almost as if I hadn't even had any IBS symptoms to begin with. This morning I then woke up with that soreness feeling again along with the discomfort. I had a bowel movement today that was larger than the last, but no blood or anything. But now though, it's almost a constant uncomfortable/sore feeling that wont subside, and I don't know what to do anymore. I have a dr appt on monday, but I'm also supposed to be going on vacation on monday, So I'm trying to figure out now if I should push the appt to Wednesday when I get back and just deal with the pain plus see if it subsides, or go to my appt. To clarify the location of the pain, it is dead center of my waist-line (below my belly botton but above my crotch area.) If I massage the area a little, it tends to subside the pain but only temporarily.

I have also had a large problem with anxiety in the past. Heck I even feel anxiety as i'm writing this. I'm sure that has something to do with it too. From my past experience though I have never had IBS pains through that have "come on slowly" like these have. Is this normal? It seems like if I really take my mind off the pain it'll subside a little, but it's practically impossible. The only medication I'm taking is Dicyclomine 20mg, 4 x day from my previous issues with IBS. (though it's not always 4 times a day as I frequently forget. at minimum it's 2) But symptoms this time are just like a constant uncomfortable feeling, and soreness feeling that kind of do and don't go away at times.

Has anyone had anything like this and what can I do to make it go away? I can't go through this IBS crap again. It was terrible enough the first two times.

Hello, for your cramps, constipation, bloating which could be from constipation, and other   IBS issues, could be helped by  nutrional support with Magnesium supplements .
It would also allay your anxiety symptoms, or anything related.
MAGNESIUM CITRATE is available at any Pharmacy. Its good for health, esp. for IBS, anxiety, for sound sleep and many many other health benefits. Google Magnesium and IBS, and anxiety. The bottle would say how much to take . The required daily dose for men is 400 mg and 320 for women.
Give it time to work if it does not work right away. Vit D3 range 1000 IU  to 2000 IU to be taken at the same time would make Mg work better..
If you are not on Vit D3, it will be a good idea to ask your MD for a Vit D check as most everyone is low.

Magnesium would be the ideal to help both your IBS and anxiety symptoms.. Please Google Magnesium deficiency so you'd understand why - Magnesium. Its the answer to so many health issues. Mg is involved in 300+ body enzyme processes that lack of it manifests in many different health issues, symptoms such as yours.

Hello, the pain could be due to IBS. But this is usually generalized pain. If you are getting right sided pain, it could be due to appendicitis, that’s when you have pain on the right side just above the pelvis and you may also have referred pain around the umbilicus (belly button). The pain in appendicitis generally starts around the umbilicus and moves to the lower right quadrant of the abdomen. The other symptoms for Appendicitis are fever, nausea, vomiting and malaise. The other causes for pain could be urinary tract infection, renal colic and sometimes bowel infections. So, please consult your primary care physician to rule out the causes for pain. Regards.
