Could this be IBS?

I’ve suffered from abdominal pain and constipation for years, lately altering with diarrhea. For the past few months my lower abdomen has hurt almost constantly, mostly cramping and gas. It’s been mild to moderate most of the time, with occasional flare-ups of more intense pain. For the past week, I’ve had severe cramps, diarrhea, gas, bloating, lower left-side stabbing pain, and my intestines are constantly noisy. I’ve also been vomiting when I try to eat much. The cramps are so bad that I’ve spent most of the past week in bed, curled up in a ball with a heating pad. That and pressure tend to make it a little more bearable. For the past couple of days, the diarrhea has been almost purely liquid, with a lot of mucus. I talked to my doctor and she sent me to the ER Saturday. They didn’t do anything to diagnose the pain, just gave me fluids and potassium. I’ve tried OTC meds, such as Pepto Bismol, Gas-X, and something called Intestinal Defense, but I’m getting little to no relief. I’m going to see my doctor when she has an opening. Right now she’s booked for two weeks. I don’t know if I can wait that long. The cramping gets unbearable and I don’t know how much longer I can stand it.
