Does anyone have this Symptom?

I had an IBS flare-up (if you call them that) about 7 months ago that is still with me. I have the "cramping" before a bowel movement that everyone talks about. I have the constipated version of IBS.  I find that while I am not in any pain when I am doing most things, if I poke my fingers into my stomach/intestine area it feels tender. Sometimes it is very uncomfortble to sleep on my stomach. This doesn't come & go. It has been with me for the last 7 months. Does anyone else experience this?  Thank You. I am wondering if it might be related to something else other than IBS.

IBS is defined by the fluctuations of constipation and episodes of loose stools or "pencil like" thin stool.  All that going on can cause tenderness. But as the Lady above mentioned...you cant be too careful and should get checked if your unhappy currently. Might be time for you to have a colonoscopy study; even if just for a base line. Can be a life-safer.
Feel better.

Hi, like I mentioned, IBS can cause the tenderness. But if its severe, then the other causes for pain could be urinary tract infection, renal colic and sometimes bowel infections. It could also be due to diverticulitis, Chron's disease, ulcerative colitis and parasitic infections. You will need to consult your primary care physician, who may run blood, urine and stool tests and may sometimes ask for an ultrasonography to detect the cause for the pain. Regards.
