any ideas?

I have frequent floating stools that leave a clear haze on toilet water. stool is brown, soft and formed. Drs. are not concerned but I was positive this was caused by fat malabsorption related to some cancer of the pancreas. However all my tests kept coming in normal: colonoscopy, ultrasound, ct scan of pelvis and abdomen with contrast, cbc, metabolic, hida scan with ckk, stool tests including one time fecal fat test. upper endoscopy showed mild gastritis and gerd. However I just got results back from 72hr fecal fat test back(this is the test I have been asking for) and to my amazement it was normal. So its safe to say that my floating stool can't be caused by pancreatic cancer and its just my body is producing more gas.

No I'm not under therapy for pancreatic cancer. All tests besides upper endoscopy which showed gerd and mild gastritis have been normal. The only symptom that made me fear pancreatic cancer was the floating stool. Just wondering why stool floats frequently when according to two different fat tests (qualitative and quantitative) a year apart show no fat malabsorption. I do take a probiotic once a day.

Hi, are you under therapy for pancreatic cancer? If so then the altered stool consistency could be due to the medications. Stool consistency can vary depending on the food consumed. As the tests are normal, it's unlikely there is fat malabsorption. Try to include yogurt in your diet as it is a probiotic which replaces lactobacillus acidophilus (good bacteria) that helps with digestion.

Probiotics contain good bacteria and help with digestion. And Prebiotics are nondigestible carbohydrates that act as food for probiotics. Probiotics are found in foods such as yogurt, while prebiotics are found in whole grains, bananas, onions, garlic, honey and artichokes. A combination of two in a healthy diet is beneficial. Try this. Regards.
