8mm Solid nodule in kidney

On a recent CT of abdomen, a 8mm "SOLID NODULE" was noted in my left kidney. An ultrasound confirmed this. I have been referred to a urologist but can't find much information on this issue online. The little I have found all leans toward solid nodules being malignant. Can anyone shed some light on this matter for me?
