Has anyone heard of the new stages of CKD?

I heard there are different levels of CKD now...ie Stage 3a  Stage 3b, etc.
Does anyone know what this means?

That answers my question much better then my nephrologist did. All I know is that I am stage 3. When I did some reading from the Kidney Foundation, they mentioned the A, and B. I am in the B category according to what you told me and my levels. They have been consistent for over 2 years now.
Thank you so much!!

Hello,
Stage 3 is the middle stage and in this condition there are moderate decline of GFR and moderate renal damages. Stage 3 renal failure can be further divided into 2 stages which are stage threeA and stage three B on the basis of GFR.In stage three A the GFR is approximately 45-50 ml/min while in stage three B it is approximately 30-44 ml/min.A clinical examination is must before staging a person’s kidney disease. Consult a nephrologist for more queries and concerns.
Best luck and regards!
