Kidney Stone Post Op. Problem.

Hi . Im a 24yo male and have had a ureteroscopy within the past 6 months. A stent was placed inside and left for 3.5 weeks. Before removing the stent, my doctor told me I would have to pay 400 cash/check out of pocket for anestesia for this procedure. Me being a barely broke 24yo in NY gave to go ahead without it.

Since everything has healed from that point forward, I have noticed a new problem. It has to do with sexual intercourse. Getting arrowsed is some-what of a task, but when I am arrowsed I can hold my stamina for a very long time. There is a big problem however. I have lost some feeling on the tip of my penis which makes climaxing very difficult. My spouse and I have been extremely frustrated with this problem and it is effecting us in a big way. I've been too scared to talk to anyone about it because I am mainly really shy.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know what my problem is ? Can it be fixed/reversed ?

Wow, I'm surprised you were given the option to have anesthesia.  I had a stent put in 3 different times and was never given the option of having anesthesia with the removal.  Wish I had of though.  I had read on an internet site that the stents were removed under local anesthesia, but I never had anything.  I learned to take pain medication prior to the removal.

I'm just curious about the ratio of people that have sents removed with/without anesthesia .

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

This may be nerve related . Your history of previous instrumentaion may be significant. I suggest you get a follow up consult with your urologist to have this assessed. This may be something that may reverse spontaneously given time. Your urologist may be able to shed some light on this. Similar problems of numbness, tingling or pain have been experienced by patients who underwent previous instrumentation. The severity and progression of the symptoms do vary from patient to patient and on the degree of surgery or intervention done.

A follow up consult however may be necessary to rule out other causes ( eg psychological factors).
