Up & Down eGFR

I had a eGFR in last Sept 2012 when I was diagnosed. In Feb 2013 I was down to 31 and on June 4th my eGFR had raised back to 39. I'm so new at this and still trying to find answers. Thanks for any advice in advance

mine fluctuates anywhere from 30-50!  depending on level of hydration and if I have had a recent kidney infection. Get them all the time. So im not even sure what mine truly is. Was told am in stage 3-4 with those numbers.  I have no bladder but an ileal conduit and so infections of the kidneys are causing a lot of damage!  I think the ones that were higher were when I had drank a lot of fluids. The best advice is to just drink what you would normally drink and stick to your usual diet, then you get a reading that is more true to the state of your function.  It is not unusual to have a lower egfr in hotter weather also, This is because we are usually not as well hydrated, sweat etc and so the creat tends to be higher. The higher the creat the lower the egfr

I am to drink 58 to 64 ounces of water a day. Right now I am doing good with close to 60 a day. But I really have to push to get it there. I go in for a blood test at the end of the month. I want to make sure I get my 60 the days before and the morning of. I am really hoping on better numbers. Other test I have either been sick or fasting. I am really hoping for numbers near 60.
I hope your next eGFR is a lot higher too!

egfr can jump up and down all over the place. It is measured by also measuring creatinine. Creatinine can rise due to lower hydration also if have had more protein than normal in the days leading up to the test,  The higher creatinine lowers the egfr. Altenatively drinking a lot of fluid, so over  hydration can lower creatinine and so lincrease the egfr.
Mine foes everywhere. It is also often lower egfr in hot weather as the body tends to dehydrate and so increases creatinine.  This is why egfr alone is not the only indicator. Mine changes dramatically, but my renal ultrasound shows clear CKD,along with 24 hour urines,

Yes you were at least you answered. You know now that I've read about your count I remember something.
When I went in Feb and my eGFR was 31, I had been fighting terrible stomach problems for a couple months, losing wt and was vomiting and sick at my stomach off and on.
They gave me a medication and it helped some with my stomach and than now in June it was up to 39. My one last Sept was 38. Makes me wonder if when I was sick it made my eGFR go down with the infection I was fighting. Thank you for your reply.

Dcranford, my levels have gone up and are now down again. eGFR was 46 on June 28th. But at the time they were taken I had been vomiting brought on by having an ERCP done. So my Dr. said the low reading could be because of having no fluids for prior the vomiting. I am going in for another blood test the end of this month.
My first reading in July of 2012 my eGFR was 50, Apr. 2013 59 and now it is down to 46.
I do not know if this is normal going up and down. My Dr. did tell me when I was in to see her the other day that she was more concern for my Chronic Pancreatitis.
Not much help am I.
