Zantac for Kidney infection?

My doctor is telling me to give my 7 year old Zantac for a kidney infection, but I can't  find any information on whether or not this is a proper treatment- I just want to be sure??

a kidney infection requires anti biotics. What kind of dr told you zantac? Isn't that an anti acid? Kidney infections need to be treated immed. I wud take her to another dr asap.

No, he said Zantac, and had us go to the pharmacy and buy some to take before she eats, no prescriptions-

Did he actually say Z-Pak rather than Zantac?
