constant UTI

My daughter is now 9, ever since she was 5 she has been getting UTI's. Since September 1,2009 to October 16, 2009 she has had 3 UTI's. Her doctor has now sent her urine sample to get tested because he thinks that she might have a Kidney Infection. She has not had back pain or vomitting only stomach pain, and burning while she urinates to the point that she is crunching over when she goes to the bathroom because it hurts so bad. I worried & not sure if it truly is her kidneys and I dont want to keep her on Antibiotics. Please help what else can it be? I feel so helpless & I really dont think her doctor knows. I am going to see if he will send her to a urologist. She is going to have an ultrasound of her Kidneys on Tuesday. I'm very nervous!!

HI,
How is your daughter? I 'm sorry to hear what she is going through right now. Don't feel helpless. You and your doctor are doing the right thing. Urinalysis will rule out any infection and ultrasound will show if there is any structural problem with the kidneys. Evidence-based medicine is really needed to determine the diagnosis. At this point, continue with the pain medications and antibiotics. For some, It is better to refer to a urologist with laboratory results already. Take care and do keep us posted.

Oh I wish I could help you! I'm suffering what sounds to be the exact same problem now. It feels like I need to pee every 5 minutes, but then when I do, only a bit comes out and it burns like crazy. If you get any helpful results could you please let me know? I hope your daughter is ok!
