Hi , kidney problems are unlikely to make your lower pelvis ie bladder bloat up but can make you swell in some places eg ankles , hands, face etc. I have not heard of ribs hurting though.  I have stage 4 renal and have no ongoing pain. However, when i get a kidney infection i get severe pain. Kidney pain is not felt near ribs but more aroung the waist area at back

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello there,
Medullary sponge kidney is a condition in which cysts develop in the urine collecting ducts and tubules of one or both kidneys. The exact cause is not known. The common symptoms are pain in the back, haematuria, excessive amount of calcium in the urine. The complications are kidney stones, infection and kidney failure. Treatment is usually symptomatic. It is best to consult an urologist and get your doubts clarified. Do keep me posted with more queries.
Best wishes and regards!
