right mid back dull pain w/right lower groin pain?

I am a 37 year old female w/2 boys (11 and 5).  I had a TAH (kept ovaries) back in 2005 for endometriosis and an enlarged uterus and heavy periods.

For the last 2 or 3 weeks or so, I have been having a dull pain on the right side of my mid-back.  It mostly would bother me when I layed down at night.  It doesn't seem to be a muscular type of pain, just a very dull pain.  I noticed that last week I started having a pain in my lower right side of my abdomen (possibly closer to the groin).  And over the weekend, I started waking up in the middle of night to go to the bathroom/urinate.  This week, I have been having waves of pain from my right lower abdomen/groin area and right mid-back.  I noticed yesterday at work that I felt like I had the urgency to go urinate, but I had to sit on the potty for at least 10 minutes to concentrate until it came out.  Last night when I layed down to go to sleep, the pain was almost unbearable but then it went away until about right now.  I have been waking up almost every night at approximately 2 or 3 am to go urinate.

I am not sure whether it warrants a doctor's appointment or not?  If so, what could it be and what tests would they run to find out?

I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Thanks,
CJH

oh...forgot...if you go to your family doc he/she may not have the diagnostic equipment to tell you if you have a kidney stone or not. you'll probably be referred for a CAT scan. they did one on me last night, and within 15 minutes i knew i had a kidney stone.

they also did a UA before to make sure i didn't have a bladder or kidney infection, which i didn't. no blood in urine, either which is rare because most people (85%) have blood in their urine with kidney stones.

if you want to know right away (if they pain is unbearable) i'd just go to the ER. they have all the equipment right there to diagnose you, as well as get your pain managed. they gave me morphine and an anti nausea medication through an IV and it really helped get the pain under control.

kidney stone. your symptoms sound just like mine, and i went to the ER last night and that's what i have. hurts like heck. just drink plenty of water (a lot) and you may need some pain meds to get through it. try tylenol or aleve. i'd go ahead and see a doc if i were you.

good luck!
